A Personal Choice

June 14, 2010

The recent post about being swept under by a range of emotions has prompted me to remind people of the value of Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. This is a book that is on a shelf near my bed. My copy is showing the signs of being much loved and much read.

Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Another work by Estes, Warming the Stone Child, is well worth considering as well.

Personally I found that Estes led me to Jung and to a study of many of the stories that shape our lives. Baba Yaga is one that keeps appearing. There is a fascinating path to follow, with journal in hand to record the thoughts and feelings that rise up to confront one.

Ancestral Link to Lemuria

June 13, 2010

The work of my Great Grandfather, George Chale Watson, has had a profound impact on me. All those who know and love the Lemurian Landscape of my dreams will see where the dreams were first seeded. The Lemurian Collection was one of the first that was added to Soul Food.

All A Matter of Balance

June 7, 2010

EnchantedWoodDryad

At the end of the day
When all is said and all is done
It is simply a matter of balance
The tricky thing is
Achieving a balance is not always as simple as it might seem.

Laurel Crown Awards

June 6, 2010

It is at least eight years since I created these pages. Many more Soul Food Community members should be represented here. I am in the mood to hand out Laurel Crown Awards to pieces or blogs.

Scantily Clad

June 5, 2010

EnchantedWoodFairy4

Winter is approaching.
The trees are stripping bare
Having unloaded their spring leaves
There is a decided nip in the air
Not sure how this wee girl is getting about so scantily clad.

“What this girl needs is a good warm singlet”.  As winter engulfs my world and mists rise from the frost chilled ground, I am adding all the layers I can find. Suddenly all the bright scarves and hats have been pulled out and I look like a skein of wool getting about. I look at the girls out the back (the Ewes that belong to the sheep property I live on) and marvel at their resilience.

You will find this image in the Cafe Press shop. I am seeking all sorts of quirky metal surfaces to display my magnets. Yesterday Jarrad, at my favorite recycle place, produced a wonderful little crescent moon heater that holds eighteen of them. I can carry it about and show people my art. Everyone has been enthusing and it is inspiring me to manifest my desire to get it out into the world, to cover many metallic surfaces.

Have a close look at the image. Perhaps it will inspire some writing or art today.

The Enchanted Wood

June 5, 2010

EnchantedWoodFairy3

Enid Blyton was the author who captured my imagination as a child. Her fantasies of going to the Enchanted Wood have never left me. Whenever I need to massage the creative spirit I go off to the Lemurian Enchanted Wood.

EnchantedWoodFairy2

Maybe you will join me there, explore the nooks and crannies and meet the folk who inhabit this place.

I plan to add more of these creatures to my fridge and other metal surfaces just to remind me of where I can go when I want to get away from it all.

Now to go and do another drawing.

Wheel Turns Full Circle

June 2, 2010

TarotWheel

After a long sabbatical I have been working the Soul Food Cafe again, committing myself to the Soul Food Way, the daily practice. Since my husbands relapse with cancer, the cancer that finally won in 2007, I have made drawing a practice. Drawing links me to him and those nights we sat together in the lounge at Carnforth.
